Growing tips

Direct sow seeds about 1 cm deep, spacing 15-30 cm apart depending on variety; zinnias dislike root disturbance so sow in place or in biodegradable cells. Germination takes 5-10 days in warm soil. Pinch young plants once for bushier growth and deadhead spent blooms to extend flowering. First flowers appear in 6-8 weeks, continuing for months with regular picking.
