Uses

<p>A classic <strong>winter bedding and container flower</strong> for borders, edging, window boxes and pots. The edible flowers can also decorate cakes, salads and desserts, and the dense low mounds give weeks of colour in the coolest part of the year.</p>

Growing tips

<p>Sow seeds about 0.3 cm deep and cover lightly, as darkness aids germination; keep cool at 15-18°C. Germination takes 10-20 days. Transplant seedlings at the 4-5 leaf stage, spacing 15-20 cm apart. Deadhead regularly to keep new blooms coming. First flowers appear roughly 70-90 days after sowing and continue until the weather warms.</p>
