Uses

<p>Grown purely as an <strong>ornamental</strong> for vibrant winter colour in beds, borders, pots and hanging baskets; the blooms also attract bees and butterflies.</p>

Growing tips

<p>Surface-sow or barely cover the fine seed (<strong>3-4 mm deep</strong>) in seed trays; germination takes <strong>7-14 days</strong> at 18-20°C. Transplant seedlings 25-30 cm apart once they have 4-5 true leaves. Pinch tips early to encourage bushiness and deadhead spent flowers regularly. Plants begin blooming roughly <strong>10-12 weeks</strong> from sowing and flower through the cool months.</p>
