Growing tips

Sow seeds about 1 cm deep in a seed tray or nursery bed. Germination takes 7-14 days at 15-22°C. Transplant seedlings when pencil-thick (about 15 cm tall) into deep holes, spacing 15 cm apart, and earth up the stems progressively to blanch long white shanks. Harvest 90-120 days after transplanting once stems are 2-3 cm thick.
