Sedum rubrotinctum, the Jelly Bean Plant or Pork and Beans, is a cheerful trailing succulent with plump, glossy, bean-shaped leaves that turn from green to bright red at the tips when grown in strong sun. It forms low, spreading clumps ideal for hanging pots, ground cover and arrangements. In spring it bears small yellow star flowers. Native to Mexico, it is extremely easy, fast-rooting and drought-tolerant. It needs bright light, gritty soil and sparing water. In India it grows vigorously on sunny balconies and rooftops, with shelter from heavy monsoon rains to avoid rot.

Growing tips
In India give it full sun to turn the leaves vivid red, plant in gritty fast-draining soil and water sparingly; the leaves detach easily and root readily, so it propagates almost on its own, but shelter it from monsoon downpours.
