Uses

Grown as an ornamental for pots, window boxes, hanging baskets and borders. The aromatic foliage is mildly insect-repellent, and the long-lasting flower clusters bring vivid colour to balconies and terraces.

Growing tips

Sow seeds about 3-5 mm deep in trays of fine, moist mix and keep warm at 21-24°C; germination takes 7-14 days. Transplant when seedlings have 2-3 true leaves, spacing 25-30 cm apart or one per medium pot. Pinch growing tips to encourage bushiness and deadhead spent clusters regularly. Plants begin flowering roughly 90-110 days from sowing.
