Geranium (Pelargonium hortorum), the classic zonal geranium, is a robust, free-flowering plant carrying bold rounded clusters of red, pink, salmon, purple or white blooms above rounded, scalloped leaves often marked with a darker zone. Long valued for pots, window boxes, balconies and bedding, it flowers over a long season and tolerates some neglect once established. Drought-resilient and sun-loving, geraniums suit Indian balconies and terraces, blooming heavily in the cool season and through much of the year in milder climates. Their bright colour and easy care make them a perennial favourite.
