Galphimia glauca, the gold shower or thryallis, is a compact evergreen shrub that produces airy terminal sprays of small, bright golden-yellow star-shaped flowers over a very long season above fine blue-green foliage. Native to Mexico and Central America, it adapts readily to warm Indian gardens, where it flowers almost continuously with little care. Its tidy, rounded habit suits low hedges, mass plantings, borders and containers, and the cheerful blooms attract bees and butterflies.
