Egyptian Star (Pentas lanceolata), also called star cluster, is a bushy, free-flowering shrub bearing dense domed clusters of small star-shaped flowers in red, pink, white, lavender and magenta. Native to East Africa and Arabia, it blooms almost continuously in warm weather and is a top nectar plant for butterflies, bees and sunbirds. Compact and tidy, it is perfect for borders, mass plantings, balcony pots and butterfly gardens across India. It thrives in full sun with regular watering and feeding, staying covered in colour for months. Easy to grow and non-fussy, it is one of the most rewarding flowering shrubs for beginners.
