Uses

Tender Dill leaves season fish, dals, raitas, soups and salads, while the dried seeds are a classic pickling and tempering spice. In India fresh dill (soya bhaji) is cooked as a green and also used in traditional digestive and gripe-water remedies.

Growing tips

Dill resents transplanting, so direct sow seeds about 5-8 mm deep in their final pot or bed. Germination takes around 7-14 days. Thin or space seedlings 15-20 cm apart. Begin snipping leaves from 40-50 days after sowing; sow small batches every 2-3 weeks for a continuous harvest. Let a few plants flower if you want to collect seeds.
