Growing tips

<p>Sow seeds 3-5 mm deep in seed trays or directly in pots filled with well-drained potting mix. Germination takes about <strong>7-14 days</strong> at 18-22°C. Transplant seedlings when they have 4-6 true leaves, spacing plants 15-20 cm apart. Pinch early growth to encourage bushiness; plants begin flowering roughly <strong>60-75 days</strong> from sowing and continue right through the cool season.</p>

Sow from September to November for the main winter flowering season. In cooler hill regions you can also sow in early spring. Dianthus dislikes intense summer heat, so time sowing for the cool months.
