Growing tips

<p>Sow seeds 2-3 cm deep directly where they will grow, spacing 10-15 cm apart (give pole types a trellis). <strong>Soak seeds overnight</strong> to speed sprouting; germination takes <strong>3-7 days</strong>. Cowpea resents transplanting, so <em>direct sow</em>. Tender pods are ready to pick in 45-60 days; harvest regularly to keep more pods coming.</p>

Cowpea loves warmth, so sow from February-March for summer and June-July with the monsoon. Avoid cold winter months as germination and growth slow down.
