Growing tips

<p>Sow seeds about 0.5 cm deep, spacing plants 30-40 cm apart, in a sunny spot. Germination takes <strong>7-14 days</strong>. Cosmos can be <em>direct sown</em> or started in trays and transplanted at the 4-6 leaf stage. Pinch young tips for bushier growth; flowering begins in about 60-90 days and continues for months if you deadhead spent blooms.</p>

Frequently asked questions

When should I sow cosmos seeds in India?
Sow from June-July for the monsoon and again in September-October for winter flowering. In most of India cosmos can be grown almost year-round in a sunny spot.
Why is my cosmos tall and leafy with few flowers?
Too much shade or rich, over-fertilised soil pushes leafy growth. Give it full sun, avoid heavy feeding, and pinch the tips early to get more blooms.
