Uses

The dried flowers make a famous calming herbal tea and are used in traditional remedies for digestion and sleep. Chamomile is also cosmetic (hair rinses, skin soothers) and acts as a friendly companion plant that attracts pollinators.

Growing tips

Chamomile seeds are tiny and need light to germinate, so surface-sow and press them in without covering. Keep the medium lightly moist; seeds germinate in 7-14 days. Thin or transplant seedlings to 15-20 cm apart. Plants begin flowering in about 8-10 weeks. Harvest the open flower heads on a dry morning and air-dry them for tea.
