Growing tips

Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in seed trays; germination takes 10-21 days, faster in warmth. Transplant at the 4-6 true-leaf stage, spacing 45 cm apart in large pots or beds. Stake taller plants and pinch early flowers to build a strong frame. Green fruit is ready about 70-90 days after transplanting; leave on the plant longer to ripen to red or yellow.
