Growing tips

Sow seeds about 0.5 cm deep in seed trays; they germinate in 7-14 days. Transplant seedlings to large pots or beds at the 4-6 leaf stage, spacing plants 60-75 cm apart. Provide a stake or cage as plants sprawl. Fruit is ready about 90-120 days after sowing; berries are ripe when the husk turns papery and tan and the fruit drops.
