Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), or Water Hyssop, is a creeping, succulent marsh herb celebrated in Ayurveda as a brain tonic believed to enhance memory, focus and mental calm. It forms a low, spreading mat of small, fleshy green leaves and bears dainty white to pale-purple flowers. Naturally found along water edges and wetlands, brahmi loves moist to waterlogged conditions and even grows in shallow water, making it ideal for bog gardens, ponds and containers. Hardy and fast-spreading, this gentle medicinal groundcover is easy to grow across India and is also used in soothing herbal preparations and teas.
