Uses
<p>Young <strong>leaves and flowers are culinary</strong>, adding a cool cucumber flavour to salads, drinks and garnishes. The blue blooms are a strong <strong>bee and butterfly attractant</strong> and borage is a useful companion plant near tomatoes and squash.</p>
Growing tips
<p>Sow seeds <strong>1 cm deep</strong> directly where they will grow, as borage dislikes root disturbance. Germination takes <strong>7-14 days</strong>. Thin or space plants <strong>30-45 cm apart</strong>. It grows quickly and flowers in about <strong>50-60 days</strong>. Harvest young leaves regularly and let some flowers set seed for self-sowing.</p>
