Bengal Clock Vine (Thunbergia grandiflora) is a robust, woody perennial climber celebrated for its large, pale sky-blue trumpet flowers that hang in showy clusters. Native to the Indian subcontinent, it is well adapted to local conditions and quickly clothes pergolas, arches, fences and large trellises with broad, rough-textured green leaves. It flowers heavily through the warm and monsoon months and provides excellent shade and screening. Very vigorous, it needs strong support and regular pruning to keep it in bounds. Easy to grow in full sun to partial shade with moderate watering, it is a classic choice for tropical garden structures.

Growing tips
In India give it a strong, permanent support and prune it hard after the main flush to keep it manageable; it can become invasive, so remove unwanted root suckers and stray growth.
